I just logged in for the first time since 2009, to an email from a friend from 2013. I replied but Im almost certain he won't see it. I think it would be cool to be able to "poke" old friends, or at least have a way to reach them when they've been inactive for years.

Agreed! That's kinda what I had in mind. With a small FG cost to avoid email spam I guess.

Or even just some kind of alert after they’ve been inactive for some time.

I think that would be against the site rules.

For example. We trade here. Poking could be seen as advertising.

You would have had to opt into communications when you signed up-- if not, it could go against GDPR. Also, if that user is in Europe, most places are opt-in, so it would require some due-diligence, and confirmation of where people live. It's a great idea, but I'm not sure email would be the best medium ( unless D2JSP includes that you may be contacted when you sign up, which I cannot recall since it's been so long! )

That is a fair point. Although, I kinda see it more as a "social media / direct message alert" thingie.

There's also safety things to consider like, doxxing risks, etc so it has to be done right. I don't think it's unrealistic though! The goal is mostly to find old mates somehow. Some kind of positive thinking shit. Probably a bit naive but seriously I just really miss my mate and seeing that 8 year old message, that was sent years after we last played together gave me massive feels.
