I. The idea

General Help is a central place where anyone can come to ask for or provide answers.
It is a direct and daily assistance to users, and indirect for those who discover new things there through open topics.

I submit this idea to greatly improve the comfort, navigation and management of this forum.

The idea is to create 3 colors (option 1) or 3 tags (option 2) that will be displayed automatically depending on the status of the topic created in the general help.
The 3 tags (or colors) will be:
  • New (purple or blue)
This allows you to directly see new topics that have not yet received help.
  • Processing (orange)
This makes it possible to see that answers have been given but that the topic is not yet resolved, so that you can always bring new elements.
  • Resolved (green)
This allows you to see the resolved issues directly.
    • There is therefore no need to provide new answers.
    • Allows a user to search for an answer to a similar problem.
    • It is easier for the d2jsp team to see the topics to close.

II. How it works?

The tags will evolve automatically according to the state of the topic.

  • The "New" tag
The "New" tag is automatically displayed when creating a new topic.
  • The "Processing" tag
The "Processing" tag is automatically displayed as soon as a response (different from the author) has been posted.
  • The "Resolved" tag
Several options are possible to display the "Resolved" tag:
    • A button inside the topic is available to the author that he can use as soon as the desired answer is provided.
    • The tag can also be applied by the d2jsp team considering that the answer to the problem lies in the various interventions of the assistants.
    • If neither of the two options has taken effect after 24 hours, an automatic message is sent to the author to either restart his topic (bump) or put it in "resolved" (resolved button).

III. Display example
These are only examples of displays, they are just to illustrate the idea.

  • Display in the forum

  • Display in the topic

Thanks for reading me and leaving constructive comments and votes.

In itself i think the idea is good, but the same people always post anyway.
Often there are three times the same answer just spelled differently.
I am not sure if and what to vote

Better visibility of topic status can greatly improve this and make it easier to close resolved topics.

edit: There may be multiple responses to a topic and multiple items before it is considered resolved. It is not a problem in itself that there are several answers in a same topic.

I know what you mean and that is why the idea is actually a good one, but it is already a competition to see who will be the first to give an answer. If this answer is completely sufficient and correct, more will still be posted to get attention.

It doesn't matter if the others absolutely want to publish their answer, my idea is not to handle this :)

But to give better visibility for:
  • Those looking for solutions to similar problems
  • Those who want to help and orient themselves towards the topics that need it most
  • Staff who can better handle and resolve issues that are resolved.

Resolved topics are not closed, they are left open in case the user has additional questions related to the topic, or for other users to offer a different point of view or additional insight. Also there’s only about 3-4 General Help topics per day, so I feel these topics are easily managed as they stand. Plus adding these options could just further confuse someone who’s already seeking help, and might go unnoticed by newer users.
I think it’s a good idea Archive, I just feel like it’s a lot of work to do an addition like this that would get minimal use.

Agree with Joshua, idea is good. But it’s already manageable the way it is.

My idea is not to automatically close resolved topics, I'm just saying it can help sort these topics by the d2jsp team.

The topic can be left open, but at least one user knows the answer to the topic is inside and I think it can be very helpful.

It is not only a matter of managing but also of guiding others who may seek answers to the problems which have been solved.

It is not only the helpers who browse this forum.

For mods, yes.
For the general public, no.

Seeing as its more directed at everyone I voted no.
