I don't see this suggestion for the recent usertags.

My suggestion is when you tag users, instead of showing their plain name with a ^ in front.

While this is a cool idea, there is almost no chance this will be added, as it would require real time look-ups for every post where it is used, of which every post is currently cached. Even if it did a static lookup at the time of the post, this still requires a lookup where none exists at present (you can use ^ for non-existing names/users, and it doesn't validate them). Sorry.
