So apparently, the signature size limit has been at 70kb since forever.

70kb made sense some years ago but average internet speed connections have been going up a lot in the past years.

let's take the US as a reference, a quick google search will show you that the avg speed connection was about 3mbps in 2010. As of june 2018, the average was already at about 98mbps.

Fine as is, the pixel dimensions don't justify MB-sized images anyway. Plus more and more people browse on their mobile devices, I personally don't want big as fuck signatures eating up my data plan.

there's an option to not display user signatures wich is a good idea to use when browsing on mobile data

you'd need to view about 7000 times a 150kb signature to take up a gb of data. also i'm pretty sure if its displayed more than once in a page it still only downloads once, and the ones you see the most are likely to be cached

Also i'm not talking about making them bigger than 400*150, i'm only talking about increasing the file size limit

70kb in 2020 is a sin, especialy for users who pay $ for runing this forums.

150kb is not so difference and problem for the site for sure.
And is really better for 2020 Animated apng signatures.



70kb is year 2003.

70KB is more than enough.
If we raise it to 150KB, than next years someone will ask for 300KB and there it goes, in 2 years everyone will have 10MB signature.

Not everyone use a computer to browse the forum and for that only reason i'm gonna vote no.
I don't wanna go trough my 4GB mobile data plan by refreshing a pages 10 times because of people using big signature.
We've been using 70KB as a legal size for over 17 years now i don't see any reason to change that.
