Have you been thinking about making it possible to purchase sticky thread, as similar option to bold/red/italic? This thread would be always on top for a definied time, for example 50 forum gold for 4 hours, but those are random numbers.

people would make stickies to spam and block whole subforums

Here example of how it look like on some random page where it is possible, its polish site for job search, on top sticked advertisements and after this normal list. I was proposing this option for trade forums, as more expensive opportunity to make offer more visible over time than currently available options bold/italic/red.

Hard to imagine for me how abusing could look like, and I think that making thread worth a lot of gold for spamming purpose wouldnt happen, same as I havent found any spamming thread in bold/italic/red (15 gold), but its obvious that user registered 2006 may know site much better than me. Also looking at pool results, all votes no, maybe current options are fine and there is no need to make offers more visible over time, anyway its possible to make bump every 4 hours, users can use search, or view further pages as well.

Stickies are set by staff and reserved for important information, rules or other things needed to the specific section it is posted.

Having an option to sticky a post for a limited time would ruin more for users who cant pay for it due to their topic being less visable than others. The forum works best (and is the most fair) with the current system and bump rule.

I don't think they'll ever need a forumgold sink that badly.
