Hi,

I'd like to suggest a feature that as far as I can see hasn't been suggested, but it's about something that happened yesterday.

Backstory:

I haven't been on d2jsp for like 2 years and I came to post about Diablo III, namely asking for T10 Greater Rift Carries as you can see http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=73862746.

I received a PM shortly after posting from a random person as you can see below:

Most people in this situation are smart enough to know that the person is trying to scam however there will be people completely unaware, too naive or just not smart enough to realise it and some people will get caught out by this.

I was certain that he had more than likely PM'ed the same message to many other people and so I replied with something like "You really think an 05 member would fall for such a scam?", I then decided to go check scammer accusations over at and found the following thread: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=73859094&f=250 and http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=73853280&f=34 so my suspicion was confirmed.

I then found that he had 3 different scam accusations against him:

http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=73803742&f=250
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=73855439&f=250
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=73859178&f=250

Bare in mind that the first of those 3 links was posted on the 11th of January 2016, the following posts were over a week later, the user had over a week of free reign without anyone really knowing that he was under investigation unless they checked the scammer accusation forums... and as you can see he managed to scam a further 2 people maybe more.

Proposal:

I propose that something is implemented to make users who are doing any of the following are aware that there is a pending investigation.

- Sending/Receiving PM's with the user
- Replying to the users post in any of the game trading sections
- Sending forum gold to the user

The user should be prompted with a warning somewhere on screen, be it a notification in the page or force them to view a warning page before being able to continue.

They should be provided with a link(s) to any scammer accusation threads about the user, a link to how to use a mediator and a short bit of advice telling them that the user may be innocent, they're innocent until being proven guilty so d2jsp suggests to be more cautious or something like that.

In thread/pm view a caution message / link to a general guide would be good enough in most circumstances, something along the lines of:

Extra Proposal:

An extra security measure could be added so if someone who is marked as under investigation sends the same PM (you could add a degree of variation to protect against minor modifications like an extra space) x amount of times to x amount of people a copy of the message automatically gets copied to a sub-forum so staff who can lock accounts can see a copy of the message as in 99.9% of cases it will usually be scam attempts and the user can be shut down faster.

If this has already been suggested, I am very sorry... I did search

Votes:

Please, if you vote no tell me your reasoning as to why you don't think this should be implemented.

Voted "no" as it would create way too much injustice. Many accusations in Scammer Accusations subforum are actually caused by misunderstanding/-communication or are simply impossible to prove to be truth or false. If you automatically mark all those accused ppl - even without the slightest proof - with caution label it would be really unfair against unreasonably accused users. I think it's clear that such label influences other users' attitudes towards them (mockery, insults, refusal to trade etc). Even more, it would create a great opportunity to abuse. Q: When i want to harm someone's reputation in d2jsp, what would i do? A: I simply create an accusation against him that is impossible to prove wrong - like i blame him that the item he sold me "poofed". It's impossible to prove that it's not "poofed" so my accusation is pending there for months and my victim can "enjoy" his "caution" tag meanwhile.

Long story short: the fact that someone is blaming another user in scamming doesn't mean that he did that and it can't be a reason to label him.

Just my two cents.

Just allowing thr search function in the sa would be useful but they refuse to do it

Best way to avoid being scammed is to be extra diligent and not trade with unkown or new users for things of high value

No, way too intrusive.

Perhaps people should just take a quick look at the user before doing a trade with them. I always do, especially for large transactions.

People should just have more common sense.

I mean, I check the S/A's at least once a day to see what's up.

Voted No.

When someone is being accused on S/A does not mean that he/she is guilty.

Moderators will review each situation and will judge each case properly.

Voted no, Not needed imo.

There are already processes in place to help prevent you from getting scammed (Mediators)
