I personally think its better for njaguar's site if he unlocks now a days something new thats simple and effective.

As you can see with most games people are allowed to have skins if people add more money into the game.
Okay adding skins isn't very important since there is already the option to change the layout from the site in everyones settings.
(I have default, light blue for example, And changing something that used to be free of charge into paid isn't very nice.)

But maybe for every new donation a person makes, (every $5,- let's say) people would be able to unlock 1 RANDOM smiley.
(And people would need to turn them on in their settings like this:



They can see all the smiley's there inside a huge box and activate 5 if they have unlocked more than 5
Let's say the site owns 2000 Smiley's people are going to be donating to get lucky and hope for the smiley they where hoping to get.
It's like a little gamble.

- Just like in diablo2 when you undentify an item, you dont know what your going to get.
- Just like in hourly raffle when you know your going to lose but you always try to win the jackpot some day. (Like me, I never win)

It's not just good for the owner of this site. (njaguar) Since he can make some extra cash from this.
But it's also fun for others that like the fact if they support the site they not only get some extra fg/stars whatever but they get also smiley's,
They can be using on their own topics!

Let's say someone unlucked 5 smiley's (Thats 25 dollars) and he unlocks them in his settings so he can use them.

And he opens a topic and sees it like this:


Ofcourse when this idea get's used, People should also be able to donate forum gold somewhere to gain more smiley's.

So:
- When you pay with real money you get star+random smiley

- When you pay with forum gold you get star+random smiley.

Because if i'm correct, Right now people only get extra stars if they donate with forum gold, Nothing else am i correct?

Anyway let me know what you think and dont tell me it's not wise to add more smiley's deu of spam because thats being called lazy.
You can make restriqions on how manny smileys people can use per topic/post. This solves your issue.

I found out a few mounths ago that some smiley's have been removed and i made a topic about it a few days ago.
When i asked some people why the smiley's where removed they said it's due of spam.

PS: I understand it's alot of work to setup but i think njaguar will have alot of nice comments about it and people are going to be talking about it and more people will give it a shot since it's something where you always win but you get a random smiley everytime. (Also what would be nice, people cannot gain the same smileys. they should keep getting new ones. And there should be a limit.)

Edit: Oh yeah before i forget, the amout of money and forum gold and the picture of smileys is just an example.

This is a cool thing to add, Dont you think?

I know its not all about money but if you give people more acces or more "adds" if you pay for something people are willing to do it even faster, I guess.

I don't think so. I like the way it is already. Sorry.

I'm huge fan of smileys/emoticons/etc - as long as they are just that. (Nothing huge/annoying/taxing/etc).
However, keep in mind we used to have a lot more smileys - and the current smileys, a lot of them have evolved over the years.

Fg didn't always look like it is now, etc, etc.

I love the idea of including more again, and growing the list for more personalized and fun usage - however, I don't like the idea of adding 30+.
