Might have been suggested, I don't know. But ive seen it on another forum before and it's a really cool feature.

Similar to Facebook, I would like to see a feature implemented that gives us the ability to tag people in certain posts/threads and a notification (not sure how this part will work as a PM may be abused) is sent to that user.

e.g: posting @Kimtown in a thread will notify me.

Could also have other notifications of when someone replies to your threads, replies to your posts and if you really want to facebook it up, you could put a Like feature in too, which could have notifications also... Obviously not a necessary feature though.

Pros:
Saves people PM'ing links to threads
Allows you to be notified when someone replies to your posts/threads
Saves time checking things

Cons:
Site lag?
Could be abused/lead to spam?

Thoughts?

It's still useful for knowing when someone responds to your posts/threads

Although I think tagging people going to the PM box would be abused, I personally would love to be notified if someone replies to my posts or quotes me. I don't know how something like this would be coded though.

Edit: Btw cute vote options. Instant Malcolm in the Middle nostalgia. Andways, I voted 'maybe' since I would like some sort of variation of your suggestion.

Yeah but they can pm you if it's something important

Also it's very annoying on facebook already when the only message people type is tagging their friend.
