The current way is quite easy as it is.
1 - Click on your Inbox
2 - Click on ''User Search'' at the bottom.

Making a change just to save like ... 2 second at most ...

while at the same time costing users who are already familiar with the system 5+ seconds every time they try the old way.

this would of been a good idea early on but its now become routine for tons of users so it's too late to change it.

There wont be added anything to the top.
There is already enough going on there as it is.

+ the user search is already very easy to access.

It's already fast and easy to find it. Personally I don't want to have the top of the site full of things that you can find in 2 click.
It's fine right now.
If 2 click is still too long for you, you can add the link in your favorite.
