Pretty simple, just add an item in the Account Settings tab so you can choose to be notified when you get a new friend request, similar to that of being pm'd for a gold transaction.
I saw this posted a few pages back, and the only complaint was the spam opportunity, so this kinda takes away from that.

It has been denied many times - I don't think it will happen. Though, if you use the Instant Messenger, you should receive a notification, if you have enabled it and have tap/window open with it.

And in both of them the general consensus is that people want this. The only negative thing I could find is the spam like I said in the first post, and I offered a feasible solution for that.
If there is any other negative effects, I would be more than willing to come up with a solution. Otherwise I only see a positive outcome of this.

The reason I don't like having the messenger open, is because it beeps every twelve seconds when someone replies to one of my posts, and I know other people that don't like this either.

it doesnt matter if users wants it.
if it denied, it is denied and it wont happend. if it is closed, please do not remake the topic.
it is up to the owner of the site, what he do with it.
