In the DotA 2 subforum, there are 4 types of posts you can create: trade, price check, topic, and poll.

Two of these (trade, price check) are "trading" type threads, "topic" and "poll" threads are not trading threads.
Yet when I created a topic type thread

It was still locked over a rule that governs trading threads only.

I started the now wildly popular trend of "Elo tracking threads" in the League of Legends subforum, and the subforum exploded in popularity, activity, and content shortly after. I'm trying to bring the same type of change to the DotA 2 community so it can become not only an effective trading medium, but also a good place to foster community and find people to play with. Removing this 4 hour bump limitation on topic and poll type threads (which I believe to be imposed only on accident) would go a long way towards enabling people to promote that type of camaraderie in the subforum.
Again, this is not a call to change any site rules that I can find. This is not a call to revoke the 4 hour bump rule on trade threads. This is a request to apply the rule where it belongs and not where it doesn't.
And yes, the thread was unlocked by members of the mod team, so what I am suggesting is not in violation of site policy.
