Don't get me wrong. I completely understand the need for the bump rule, and I think it is a necessity. However, in the past six months or so,the amount of activity in the d2 forums has drastically decreasedfrom what it was when the 4 hour bump rule was put into place.
Your thread might stay on the front page for a bit longer when you first post it, but 5 people might view it in that time compared to where 30 people might have viewed it a year or two ago in a shorter time period. It makes trading extremely difficult/slow. You get about 10 views to any given thread in a day compared to the 60+ you got when the rule was put into place.
When the 4 hour rule was put into effect, you knew that your thread was going to be viewed multiple times before it disappeared, however, that is no longer the case. If you miss a "hotspot" time now, an entire 8 hour day is wasted without your thread being viewed in the two bumps you get per day. Moving it to 2 hours, doubles the amount of chances for your thread to be seen, but at the same time isn't spamming a thread to the top of the forum constantly.
My suggestion is not to eliminate the bump rule, but to modify it.
Due to much less activity on the forums, I am suggesting that the bump rule be reduced to a 2 hour bump rule to help revive the forum, at least for the d2 forums.
I'm interested to get other perspectives on this, please vote/give me a brief rationale for why you voted the way that you did.
