Here are some random ideas:
1. Allow for a vouch system where members of the community can vouch for each other as legit players to trade with. A player can only vouch for the same player 1 time. So once you have vouched for player "A" you can never vouch for them again. You could also remove your vouch if at some point you felt you could no longer trust the account.
A. somewhere a simple number could be added so you could see how many vouches someone has. And you could open up and explore further who is actually giving the vouches. This would allow the community to self decide who is and is not trustworthy, sort of a self policing methodology.
B. I realize there are friends lists and it is somewhat useful to see how many friends someone has, but it is just absolutely not the same thing and here is why:
I. I'm willing to be friends with people I would not vouch for.
II. I would vouch for lots of people that I wouldn't be friends with.
III. There are tons of traders that are very legit that I would gladly vouch for that I'm just not interested in being friends with. I'm just interested in business not being buddies, and honestly I've had some friends that I absolutely wouldn't vouch for because I just don't know them well enough to say 100% that they are legit, they are just fun to play with and someone that for whatever reason I know I can personally trust, but I'm not sure how they would treat the general public.
C. I think it would be very useful information. Obviously nothing is fool proof, accounts get stolen, people can just wake up and go off the deep end, so people would need to understand that a high vouch count doesn't ensure 100% against fraud. But I would imagine the instances of high vouch accounts getting accused of scamming would be very very very low, and as such it would be very useful information for people to use to make trade decisions on who to trust and when and at what amounts.
3. There are probably better iterations of these ideas that could be added to make them better and maybe some of you could add suggestions, but I think these could really help to make the experience on here a better one. It would also be a good avenue for D2jsp to further its legitimacy. When people ask "what is to just keep me from getting scammed if I use d2jsp" these would be further explanations of how users self police and how information is available on those who have a reliable trade history. In other words these systems add even more legitimacy and that means more people willing to trade on here which should mean more $ for D2jsp in the long run.
