A simple, "xxxxxx has posted in your thread titled: xxxxxx" notification along side the "Messages", titled "Notifications"

To prevent the inevitable spam, if >1 person has posted in your thread, it could simply say "x people have posted in your thread titled: xxxxxxx" instead of individual notifications.

Not a bad idea. Why not create a pool and see what the other members might say.

Just keep the jsp instant messenger open when you are idle on jsp for when you want to know when someone posts within your own topics.
It also works with pms and gold transactions as well which what it is commonly used for.
It is located on the top right of each page.
