From the interest of readers' perspective, people will just read the first few posts and perhaps peruse through some of the recent replies only. Other than that, they wouldn't read the whole thread. This will actually defeat the whole purpose of an informative thread, as people will not know the main points of the thread.

For instance, I actually have recent updates Click here for more info on my progress and would like to add more details in the whole analysis of offhand. However, as my recent updates are posted amidst the 12 pages long thread, people would simply skip that portion. As such, thread would not be as informative as intended.

I would strongly suggest Admin to add a new function for OP (thread starter) to edit his first post. In view of possible abuse of function (OP changing Bin price etc), perhaps Admin could allow this in informative sub-forum such as Strategy Guides & Discussion only.

And also, for cases of legitimate editing of first post for trade thread, such as to edit damaged Image Link etc, enforcing a fg fee payment per editing of 1st post could be a good control as well. This will tackle the concern of unnecessary abusing

Would encourage public to give further feedback to improve this function. Looking forward for Admin to consider my suggestion! Thanks in advance!

There is a method to update first post without editing.

I believe this won't be implemented, because of the scamming risks, and so on. However you only speak about informative sub-forums, this would be great, but won't happen in my opinion.

I would only support this if you could moreso make an addition to the first post.

Like have it be controlled where you can just edit a sub section of the post.

Otherwise you could just change your first posts rules or terms or items or shit like that, and it could be abused somehow.

But if it was made clear the difference between the original and edited posts, I would support it.
