The purpose would be for leaders to discuss things such as recruitment, growth, management, screening/vetting prospective members and for any other guild related advice/discussion.

I'll answer a few possible questions people may have:

Why private? If we were to discuss sensitive topics such as screening for possible troublemakers, it might be best that those individuals not know what we look for.

What's the benefit to the community? Guilds are community hubs for people who share interests/goals. If they thrive, the community benefits.

What problem is this addressing? Currently, many guilds do not thrive. Guilds that are sold tend to lose a huge amount of value versus what went into them. This shows that the number of guilds that exist is greater than the number of people adequately interested in and prepared for the role of leadership. Some give up because they do not have anywhere to turn. There is no "one size fits all" guide for how a guild should be run, but a legitimate marketplace of ideas would be a great help.

The first time I suggested this, years back, it failed to receive the needed community support.

I believe that this time I have a better shot at winning the needed support to make the idea viable.

Edit: To clarify, this would be a forum similar to the DF, except the qualifying factor is ownership of a JSP guild.

Yeah I would definitely use that mass PM idea of yours. Actually, I think this Sub Forum, should it ever come to be, could actually be a good place for guild owners as a whole to communicate to Paul the features we'd like to see implemented in guilds. In fact, I'd happily pay a little FG for a mass PM feature. If all of us were in one central spot, we could probably collectively come up with quite a few guild related improvements.

I appreciate all the responses/feedback so far. Feel free to bring up other ideas/questions/concerns. I always enjoy constructive discussions.

Yes, but sometimes there are multiple leaders/owners. I.E Jangalang and I run The Shadows together

Unfortunately it would be restricted to the official owner as the suggestion sits right now. It would be on that one person to represent their guild's interests. If the site came up with a way to designate a co-leader officially (would have to be limited to one co-leader per guild) that person having access as well would of course not be a bad thing. As of now there isn't really anything but the ranks and systems we ourselves determine. As far as the site's concerned, I do not think "shared ownership" is officially recognized, it's simply a matter of honor and agreement between the involved parties.

Unless a Guild Leader can give this right to some of his members in the 'edit ranks' part, I voted No.
TANN3R and myself run Virtue, and I don't see myself without access to that subforum if it were to exist.
If that tool is there, it's to help Guild ''Leaders,'' right? Well then, I run the Guild as much as the ''Real Owner'' does. No from me until then.

As to how individual guilds arrange their leadership duties, that's not really something I want to try to dictate (as to how it might relate to the forum). The forum needs to exist first. What it becomes or how it evolves would largely be determined by the site and those who populate it. Even though I'm sure I'd love to have texxxmex (my current second) in there with me, I'm not going to assert that as a necessity, because having just the owners would allow meaningful and beneficial discussions to take place. Whether that sub forum community would be made better by the addition of designated co-leaders is a matter for future discussion. How does that person get determined? How do we ensure leaders are not simply allowing the entirety of their membership access? Some degree of exclusivity is needed to ensure that it maintains an above average standard as well as its intended usefulness. It's not to intentionally snub people who work hard or who share joint responsibility in certain guilds, it's just a starting point to work towards overall improvement.
