ie, 'sage' as in sa-ge
from 2channel forums where a 'sage' post would not cause the thread to bump to the top.

Would help a lot with having (somewhat) divergent discussions on trading posts.

It is somewhat debatable actually.

Pro is what you just said really.

Con is that people can make posts in a area old topic and it would be hard to find users breaking rules.

It can be fixed with still counting posts and you can search from the user profile.

But it does seem like it would be useful at some parts in which you need to just edit a post update.

And yes it does solve updating yet not bumping!

Came up with some ideas to this after thinking abit.

1 - If the user topic last post (if it is their own post or another user post) will be forced 'sage' within the trading forums if it is under the Bump timer.
2 - 'sage' posts still counts towards the users post count meaning it can not be meaning less spam and such, The 'sage' posts will still continue to add onto the posts so the topic closes at #61 posts.

Anymore ideas would be great to hear on this?

This would actually cut down on a lot of issues.

No, just no.

It's fine as it is, a post is a post.

I say no for this. It would be abused.

Do you actually mind to explain on how it would be abused?

You mean people posting back-to-back just for post count?

It would still be considered spam (if they are not posting a update) and able to get suspended/warned for a thing.

Voted yes.
I think it would be useful in the trade forums, especially since replying to a question in your thread is considered a bump.

Edit.. Haha, well, I didn't actually vote since there isn't a poll.
But I would vote yes ^_^

lets say a thread is burried 100 pages into a forum and no one will ever see it, someone could go in there and spam 500 times and no one would ever notice because it won't get bumped
