I recently learned that the "Verified" badge is granted after making a purchase but is removed if no additional purchases are made within 30 days. If this information is accurate, I believe the policy should be reconsidered. Verification should represent a confirmed status, not one that expires based on purchase activity. Removing the badge after 30 days could be perceived as an attempt to encourage further spending rather than a reflection of verification status. It would be more appropriate for the badge to remain permanent once verification has been completed. At this stage, the "Verified" badge appears to have lost its intended purpose, serving merely as an indicator of recent forum gold purchases rather than a genuine mark of verification.

You must qualify as a 'customer' because it's a prerequisite in the verification process: https://forums.d2jsp.org/verify.php *first bolded point under Definition of Requirements

Once you follow the verified process, your verified icon remains attached to your account for a 1-year period before you have to follow the verified process again (i.e. have to renew it annually).
If the customer status lapses any time during the year the icon will go away until another purchase is made (then, it will appear again as long as you are within the 1-year window).

As someone who has been verified well over the majority of the time since it's release, I personally don't find it misleading. :)

Here’s how I understand it:
The verified badge disappears if no purchases are made within 30 days. For example, if I make a purchase today, my badge will disappear in two months unless I buy fg again.

The verification itself is valid for one year. I’m only referring to the badge here.

Since you voted “No,” could you please explain why you wouldn’t prefer the verified badge to be permanent? What’s the reasoning behind making it disappear after 30 days?

If maintaining verified status requires monthly purchases, it might be more accurate to rename it from “verified” to something like “contributor” which would better reflect its purpose.

I agree that it should be at least changed to "Customer" or something different. "Verified" I agree doesn't fit the definition.

You need ID to verify who you are to make a purchase, which makes you a customer. Which would be a given if it said customer or a similar word.

As far as being permanent, well the badge? No, I still believe the window frame is fair, just not for that word.

The badge wouldn’t need to be permanent if it weren’t called “Verified” But as long as it carries that name, it should either be permanent or expire only when your ID does, especially if ID verification is required to obtain it.

I mean, if I’m verified now, what exactly makes me “unverified” 30 days later? Just because I didn’t spend more money on gold? That’s wild.

I’d love to hear if anyone can actually explain the point of this “verified” badge. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it’s meant to bring in more money. especially since it disappears after a while. :)

It’s super misleading for new users. I was on d2jsp back in the day, and even I thought the verified badge meant you were somehow above regular users. But in reality, it just means you spent money sometime in the last month.

We might as well have stars that vanish every month.
