op can now make new thread without breaking the "duplicate thread created sooner than 1 hour before prior thread is closed" rule

It’ll just open up the flood gates for new thread spam lol unless it’s limited to like 1 a month or something

not really. People habitually do new thread spam regardless and it just ends up with the mods closing the most recent upload and leaving the older threads open which is bad protocol and counter intuitive to what OP is trying to do by reposting in the first place. What other method is there to get your topic closed besides say "close please" and hope a mod notices. Or continuously bump it until they close it which is awful formatting. The rule is that you can repost a thread 1 hour after the prior one is closed which makes having a "request close" button particularly beneficial in conjunction with this rule.

This has been suggested many times through out the years andit won’t be implemented due to the potential it has for abuse,

moderators do not close topics on-demand, plus it is not intended for users to close their own topics and repost whenever they want or for whatever reason just so their topics are always on top of the list, you can use the search function to see whether there were duplicate suggestions posted already:
