Hello!
I am curious to know how the real money prices for forum gold were calculated? I did a little analysis, as seen below. The first thing to do when buying anything is to compare the per unit prices, not the sticker prices, to make sure you're getting a good deal per unit purchased. Below is listed the FG - Price - Price Per FG for the currently prices as of this post:
FG - Price - Price Per FG
290 - $10 - $0.0345
630 - $20 - $0.0317
920 - $30 - $0.0326
1260 - $40 - $0.0317
1550 - $50 - $0.0323
1890 - $60 - $0.0317
2180 - $70 - $0.0321
2520 - $80 - $0.0317
2810 - $90 - $0.032
3250 - $100 - $0.0308
3880 - $120 - $0.0309
4510 - $140 - $0.031
5140 - $160 - $0.0311
5770 - $180 - $0.0312
6500 - $200 - $0.0308
8050 - $250 - $0.0311
9750 - $300 - $0.0308
Here is that same list, only sorted by the Price Per FG column from smallest to largest:
FG - Price - Price Per FG
3250 - $100 - $0.0308
6500 - $200 - $0.0308
9750 - $300 - $0.0308
3880 - $120 - $0.0309
4510 - $140 - $0.031
8050 - $250 - $0.0311
5140 - $160 - $0.0311
5770 - $180 - $0.0312
1260 - $40 - $0.0317
1890 - $60 - $0.0317
2520 - $80 - $0.0317
630 - $20 - $0.0317
2810 - $90 - $0.032
2180 - $70 - $0.0321
1550 - $50 - $0.0323
920 - $30 - $0.0326
290 - $10 - $0.0345
A couple things jump out:
• The best bundles to buy are either the $100, $200, and $300 bundles, because you'll be paying the lowest per dollar amount of $0.0308 per FG purchased. But, that also means that spending $300 or $200 at a time doesn't net you any better deal than spending $100 at a time, which doesn't sound like a good deal for the customer.
• Buying $160 or $250 of FG nets the same $0.0311 per FG purchased, which doesn't sound like a good deal for the customers spending $250.
• Likewise, you get the same deal of $0.0317/FG by purchasing either $40, $60, or $80 of FG, which again isn't a good deal for those spending $60 or $80.
• The worst bundle to purchase is the $10 bundle as it has the highest price per FG of $0.0345, which makes perfect sense considering the worst price per FG bundle should be the lowest dollar amount bundle.
So, there's your analysis of the current prices and now you can plainly see which is the best deal when considering price per FG. It seems to me there could be some tweaking of the prices to 1) gives customers a better deal when purchasing real-money FG and 2) promote better sales of real-money FG by incentivized more FG per dollar spent.
Would love to hear other folk's thoughts on this. Disclaimer: I'm not trying to push for a change, I am just a numbers guy and got curious, then figured I would share my findings.
