As a User I want to receive notifications on other users activities on the forums (either when creating a new topic or even for all posts, make this selectable as options!) such that I can interact with them immediately. Particularily helpful in (d2) trading sections.

„Following“ option could be limited to users from friend list, which requires mutual acceptance and adds more value to friend list.

(As of today, recent topics and recent posts can already be found in a users profile but my suggestion is on push notifications within these sections)

Kind of like following people on social media, I think usability will be pretty straightforward

Users should be able to select which users they want to follow of course

Just look at their profile and check recent topics and posts. Quote them and reply. Send a PM. People respond in whatever time frame is comfortable for them, whether it be a weekend or off work or whatever.

There isn't really a need for 'following', it would just feed into the ego of people here even more.

You wouldn’t need to show Follower count. But I d like to get a push if someone I regularily buy items from or discuss politics with makes a new topic/post, no!?

Just check their profile and reply accordingly.

From a buying/selling aspect yeah it's sounds nice and would be cool, but this is the internet and not everyone always plays nice iv already seen a bunch of harassment over the dumbest things ever adding a follower button/opinion would just make all that stuff sooo much worse same for trolling. I think it will get taking out of hand very quickly.

This will increase harassment for sure.
