for people with alot of people in friends list, for meeting new and old friends, and just for convenience in alot of scenario's, this seems to be a very good suggestion.

It took me a minute to think about how this would be useful and then realized that it would be nice for when someone on your list gets a name change. Then you would already have for example their real name next to their jsp.

As you mentioned I do think it should only be visible for you in your own profile. Others should not be able to view these notes imo.
