This is a good idea, however who would manage the flow of information that goes to the new people?
What information would be included, who would notify them of updated threads with newer and more relevant information? How much information do we include in the pm?
These are just a few of the questions that would need answering, because not only would it need to be moderated well to make sure that the newest threads are all in there, with up to date info, but also at what point does it become a swamp of information to the new user?
For these reasons I have null'd my vote as it is throught through well, but not quite as thorough as it would need to be.
Thanks for the feedback. A few notes from my side:
- the information is included in the profile, not in a pm
- the information included will be choosen by njaguar/someone from the mod team of course, mine is just an example to get an idea
- imo just one person/maybe two should be responsible for the content
- as soon as something is outdated the text will be changed and every new user from then on will get the new version in their profile
Of course this is not the best solution for the user who have an older version in their profile by then, but that normally should not be a problem, because they already had time to get in touch with rules and should be able to keep up with the information they need.
In the end, that's what General Help is for, they can ask there if there is a problem and as I stated in my previous post you dont have to keep it in your profile, most people might chose to delete all of this stuff after a few months anyways because they are keen on the rules.
Also I think it's an improvement anyways, even with those (not avoidable) flaws --> I mean what do we have right now ( The help and rules button was added sometime after I added my suggestion, however I often see people who ignore/dont use it, maybe it would even be be enough to put this link in the profile, because from my experience and the ones from my mates here I can say the place I visit really often is my/their profile )?
I dont think it would worsen the situation in any way, imo it would clear out some of the "where is this - General Help topics" and result in a more smooth trade management for new players
