Yes- this would be a great idea since the guild recruitment page is a very ineffective way of recruiting new members.

It would also be fair to prevent auto-pm's to be sent by allowing, at the user's preference, to enable or disable them.

I do not believe that this option should be available through a direct "click/link" through that user's profile though. Perhaps instead have it as a button under "Send Message"- have "Send Guild Invite" in which the button can be greyed out if the user is already in a guild.

think it would be nice to have an area in your profile that you could moderate your guild invitations? or even a seperate pm box for them that doesnt come out of your 50 allocated messages!

With the improvements other people mentioned you get my yes vote because i am the lead recruiter for my guild. I would use this quite often.
