Just to see who is viewing your profile at the time, I don't think it could hurt :P
Don't have any other "good" reasons for this idea at this time, maybe those who like it can come up with some :)

It's nice to see who is stalking your page.

I mean you can see who is stalking your threads,
And that isn't COMPLETLY nessescary.
