the easiest way to reduce scams would be to always give fg first. and have moderators just transfer the fg back if the other guy bails

Mods won’t return your fg if you get scammed

This is exactly why I don’t use the new ‘mediation system’, especially for large trades.

To say it’s 100% safe is…..not true.

They ask you to take screenshots but they don’t prove anything. It’s not hard to maliciously use the shared stash tab.

I don’t want my sent fg in limbo forever if they claim they gave the item and didn’t, and I don’t want to not receive payment if they claim I never gave an item when I did give it

Maybe they could have an option to request the old approach, where the items must go through a mediator's in-game hands if you will (trade window). This might give more peace of mind for larger trades!

If I were to spend that much FG, I'd rather pay a fee and have it go through a mediator's hands for sure

There are plenty of games prior to the launch of d2r that did not require a mediator to meet in game to transfer/hold items between the parties involved. The mediation system was revamped to meet high demand from D2R, but the protocol of not requiring a mediator to enter the game is not something new. If you’re feeling uncomfortable or have questions about the mediation process feel free to pm me, I’d be happy to address those concerns as best as I can.

Thank you for this! I feel a lot of people think after they get scammed they get their fg back, people need to definitely inform themselves. This can be locked but glad we had a good convo about some important things to make the community better. Nothing worse then seeing people get scammed, it’s a horrible feeling.
