Nobody is saying bids are enforceable - this is simply a tool to help those who bid on hundreds of items at any given time know when they're outbid. People ask to be informed if they're outbid, this assists the sellers in doing so, while helping the buyers keep track.

As a user that sells hundreds of items (some of my lists are 400+ with pictures for all items)
for example: http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=55000896&f=64

I would NEVER send a bid notifier for individual items, its almost impossible to keep track of a large ft list.
This feature is not useful, if you bid on an item you should keep track of it, if you don't that means you don't want the item(s) enough.

Maybe to you it isn't - but to someone more organized and efficient, it may be. I've had lists of hundreds of items, once the bidding slows down, I have successfully sent messages to all of those outbid. It takes time, but this would remove the PM delay and further assist with sending those notifications as you don't need to leave the thread.

I like this idea.

I use google docs excel sheet, its numbered, you can update bids and set bins.
you should try it, works great for organization, and much better than bid notifier system imo

Of course, I completely forgot that all the people bidding on your item can see into your personal google documents and will constantly check your personal google documents.
My mistake.

On a more serious note, this suggestion isn't as much for the seller as it is for the buyer. It's easy for the buyer to keep organized in many different ways, the seller who is bidding on possibly hundreds of items at the same time, not always so easy, keeping 100 threads tracked, where each buyer only needs to keep one tracked.

Its been successful for me, if anything they should implement a similar thing for trade topics (something that ive suggested before)
but the notifier is just not practical, tracking topics is how people see outbid, if they dont then they werent interested enough to begin with
this is not a good solution to that problem

example:
http://forums.d2jsp.org/topic.php?t=62744557&f=49

(only reason you dont see more "sold" is because im using an item seller now and not selling items myself)

Once again, you try tracking 150 topics and keeping an eye on all of them. Anyways, please refrain from posting on this topic anymore. Thanks.

Similarly, you can say why would a seller want to send out 150 notifications? Also, why would I stop posting on this topic, this is an important discussion, voters should know the problems with your solution before voting.

This suggestion should be molded around Instant Messenger - I believe it would be more suited as notifications appear in there.

eg: 08:16:24 Panic has replied on topic Example

Maybe something like:

eg: 8:16:24 Panic has outbid you on topic Stormshield FT by (such and such) Forum Gold.

Hope you like the revamp.

Voted Null. Would like to see a little more explanation to be honest.
