i think the forum should be split up to two parts - oldschool and runescape 3. for people who are unfamiliar with the games, the resemblance between the two is similar to diablo 2 and 3. sure -- there are very much alike in some ways, for example the same skills and classes exsist in both games. however, someone who only plays diablo 2 has no intrest in what's going on in diablo 3, and vice versa. And i feel the same here -- i have no intrest in looking at achievement topics or discussion topics of runescape 3, i'm only intrested in oldschool runescape. hope that makes sense.
i do agree with that a seperation in the runescape subforum is nessecary, however i do not belive that creating a "Goals And Achievements Subforum" is the right way to go. the vast majority of the threads in the runescape subforum is achievement threads, and creating a seperate forum for these type of topics would lead to a very inactive forum for discussions.
The issue is the current state of the subforum anyway. Years ago, if you wanted to post a thread on your level up, it had to be 90+.
They removed the bar all together and now suddenly i wanna kill myself when I see an achievement thread and somebody getting 34 cooking. I'm guilty of it too with my OSRS thread posting every quest completed and small things here and there, but I stopped because an achievement should be satisfying to accomplish or show that some time was really put into it, not achieved multiple times per day on top of it being a day to day basis. Before achievement threads, there were some forms of discussion of course, and I won't neglect the fact there was spam too - there always will be. But I'd rather see spam to some extent because it establishes a nonchalant atmosphere (mind you everything is circumstantial). I joked around with a few friends saying "hold on bro, we'll play in a minute - just checking the achievement thread subforum," but it's obviously a glaring issue if others have the same view as I.
Even the addition of OSRS subforum trading was dumb as shit. If people are so incapable of putting in OSRS or EOC in the description, they really should just be warned for it, give the trading subforum a warn window like the PaRD subforum so that users will actually take 5 seconds to hit a couple keys extra. But this isn't really an issue worth discussing as its irrelevant and at this point I'm derailing the topic.
The addition of another subforum isn't even a remotely good approach, I agree, but the best approach would be merging the idea of this new subforum with the dumbest subforum to ever exist - Clan discussion. I've seen more life from my pet rock than that subforum. Call it Clans and Char progression, or something. Anything really, name is up for discussion - but at least people can sit there to to try to find a group of people or look at the progress of others accounts. I feel like the only issue with having a pure discussion forum about the game is that the game itself is way too old to really discuss anything as people to an extent know the game very well.
Apologies if I'm running all over the place with my point I want to establish, I have a bad habit of just saying everything while saying nothing.
