imho a bad idea. there would be too much flame/rage.
e.g. between american-european (death penalty)
or unqualified opinions ("killing child abuser")

law is imho something you cannot simply discuss because there are rules, whcih differ from country to country and it doesnt really matter whether you like them or not...

i found this web site for you and a nice clipping for you read !!

http://www.judiciary.state.nj.us/juror.htm

How Should a Juror Behave During a Trial?

There are certain rules that a juror should follow throughout the trial in order to be fair to all sides. During the trial, jurors should not talk about the case with other jurors, or with other persons, or allow people to talk about the case in their presence. If a person persists, a juror should report the matter to the judge or a court official immediately. Jurors are given juror identification badges during their service so that no one mistakenly attempts to engage them in conversation regarding any case being heard.

Jurors should not talk about the trial with witnesses, lawyers or anyone else related to the case during the trial because it could appear that something unfair is going on even though the discussion may have nothing to do with the trial. The judge may also instruct jurors not to listen to the radio, watch television reports or read articles regarding the trial. Even if the judge does not specifically prohibit it, jurors should not read or listen to news reports about the trial during the trial.

anyway, maybe jurors is not exactly what you were talking about here !!

but you have to consider posting about cases you know nothing about can get this site shut down !

people can post hateful or hurtful facts, regardless of weather there is any factual basis !

and in extreme cases a re-trial or no further trials can occur if too much rubbish is posted !

this is a gaming community site, and its just for games.

its still a big NO NO !

basically I am thinking of a thread which people could discuss local, national, or global criminal cases and trials. Debate the evidence with eachother. I think that there are a large number of people out there that enjoy doing this kind of thing and that it will be an active thread.

PaRD basically provides this, no?

Yes using jurors was indeed a bad example. it is the jurors responsibility to ensure that they keep their opinions unbiased. If a website could be sued over influencing a juror then every news station both local and national could be sued. I feel you are not really grasping what I am suggesting.

Again please provide better reasoning because a simple disclaimer still prevents lawsuites. Personally I believe if people cared about monitoring this website that much, they would have had it shut down long ago for cyberbullying that goes on in every forum. (lets not get off topic though with the cyberbullying).

to continue my rebuttal with a slight connection to the cyberbullying I mentioned before. Plenty of hurtful things are said on this website every minute both in public forums, as well as PM. worrying that the forum I am suggesting will insight hurtful comments is really just silly when you compare it to every other forum here where people are made fun of.
This website is not only for gaming. You may have missed it but you happen to have posted in the site suggestion forum. This is a place one posts to make Jsp a more enjoyable place for it's users. I would ask you to scroll the list of forums and then tell me again "this is a gaming community site, and its just for games".
