People that are reading your profile are showing interest towards you. That would lead you to get pm's.
I agree with this, profile viewing is different from trade threads.
I find it useful to see who are interested in my items, but not useful to see who is looking at my profile.
All this does is make people insecure towards looking through someone's profile because then it feels like they're being watched.
And for the person looking around to see who is viewing their profile, it's just another self popularity indulgence feature.
