Uhm, one of the best additions for a long-long time Paul. I really love it. smile.gif But i got a few inputs;

1. In my humble oppinion, you should be able to find a better looking icon than the "L" you have now. Ask in graphics section. smile.gif
2. I believe that you should change the title colour to red to make sure that everyone that doesnt look into this forum would find it, i missed it at first. wink.gif
3. I definitly think that you should add the current pot and the last winner at the top page. wink.gif
4. Do you strictly want to keep the % of the 5 fg that adds to the pot? smile.gif Im interested to know. wink.gif
5. I would also want to be able to see how many tickets that has been sold during the last hour.
6. What is the things that you added to the footer? Since its Very Heavy at the moment, i cant see it and i dont want to wait. smile.gif

Thanks alot Paul, and once again, great addition!

What about 42k dont you guys understand? It's not a billion odds, it's 36*35*34 = 42,000 something to 1 odds. Good god!

Glim:

Get me a better icon, and I'll use it. No time to ask around. sad.gif

Color, bleh, no. Red on blue = YUCK.

Winner is shown on the main index page.

There are 1600+ users right now. It's usually heavy when there are that many. I doubt the lotto has much affect on the current load.

Il add a competiton for a new icon paying for it myself, do you have any ideas on what you want it to look like or should i let the beasts go wild with ideas? wink.gif

Uhm, you might be right on the red/blue thing, let it be bold for now then. smile.gif Noticed that it was like that and thats ok.. tongue.gif

As i said, i would love to see the pot in the header or something like that to. Since it would be great to see how much its up to atm and it would make people think "omg?! The pots at 150k fg?! Then i have to try to win, lets buy 5 ticks.. wink.gif".. Atleast thats what i believe, all the traders would notice it easier. wink.gif

This is what i meant with #6, might have missunderstood it though;

njaguar, I suggest removing the lotto statistics from the bottom of the forum index when the site load is *Very Heavy*, much like the users browsing a forum or thread is removed during that time. If someone really wants to know, they'll go to the lotto page. wink.gif

It is the same query as the main site statistics, so it adds no extra hit, other than a trivial amount of php parsing.

Since two people can buy the same number, it does not really affect your personal odds at all, so therefore, listing the amount of tickets sold in the last hour is nothing more than another query to slow the site down.

Maybe after we resolve the speed issue (AGAIN).

Here's another thought:

My odds of winning the powerball are 1 in 146,107,962.

If I buy 1 ticket for 1 dollar and the starting jackpot is (at the lowest) 8 million dollars, then I get a roughly 1 in 18 return on my money. (chance of making back my dollar)

Now, assuming a (again, at the lowest) 1000 fg prize,
Odds of 1 in 42840 gives me an expected return of .02334 fg. This costs me 5 fg, so for each fg I expect a return of .004669 fg.
Thats a 1 in 214 return on my money.

So this lottery provides a return on investment 12 times worse than the powerball.

I'm just saying it's a fun idea but really is a sinkhole that some younger/more naive members may not realize how bad the odds really are.

Well, do we have to be that incredible responsible for what "children" do? Its not like they will gamble away their house, lifes and college time on this. smile.gif I doubt people will donate for fg just to be able to bet on this lottery, dont you?
