I don't like the 2/3 rule either, or any trade where the deciding factor of trading first is join date.

I'd love an additional and optional verification step for new members to demonstrate that they are the unique owner of one account. I think that would solve trust issues, nobody wants to have their one and only verified account locked and scammer tagged. It is against the rules to create more than one account, but it happens and generates community animosity toward new members as a whole.

Love your sig and ava BTW. Obsessed with carbot, those animations are too funny.

Lol thanks bud! I love carbot animation as well. They produce great parody skits :)

And yeah, once again, agree with your point about verification that you only have one account and you are, in fact, the owner of it. That would surely solve a lot of problems. I don't know how technically challenging that might be. Sounds like it might not be implemented either.

Verification is something that is implemented :)

Generally disagree with any trader point system, this just seems rather pointless.

A review system is just clutter, trade was either successful or scam, so even if you just implement a how many trades this trader has done it still becomes useless because a trader is either going to eventually scam despite this or not…

So lets say I am at heart a scammer, how many “points” or reviews until the general public accepts me? Cant I just farm 1 FG trades then go for a big scam?

Just seems like a system that will promote false trust and decrease the likelihood of using a mediator.

Use a mediator.

Hey Arto,

Thanks for the feedback.

I do believe that mediator trading is the safest option by far, of course.

However, from my experience, this feature is not desired by many members. People prefer quick, efficient trading, and tend to utilize mediators only in much larger trades, which is how the feature seems to be intended to be used in my opinion.

Of course, as a mediator, you can say that you get all kinds of requests all day long, small and large deals. I am sure this is true. However, it is still only a fraction of all the trades that happen without mediators. In my first month on the forum, I made almost 350 trades, primarily trading for keys and selling torches. I know for a fact that most of my trades would not be possible if I insisted on mediators each time. It is simply not feasible or practical.

Also, if you think that an additional trading metric would not be helpful or useful and can be potentially misleading, then with the same logic, we can get rid of join date as well. In my opinion it achieves something very similar. Gives people a false sense of trust.

I believe that trading a lot is a major time investment and can be a good metric along with fg accumulation. If a person who had done 1000 trades and raised, at least, 10k fg without buying any - can get a tag of say “frequent/active” user or something like that - that will be a lot more helpful and carry way more weight than join date in my opinion

In the grand scheme of things this is a good suggestion. The problem is that it can be abused, but regardless, everything can be abused. I think someone suggested this before though and it got a flat no. Actually, it was suggested repeatedly and had a flat no. stuff that gets flat no, generally does not get "un-no'd" on this site. but I commend you for your good suggestion.

In terms of the trusted tag ~ I have seen people get it, and have it removed, and yes nowadays it involves helping in the S/A sub forum (which is a credit to those users but probably quite time consuming or not suitable to immature people (alot of them on this site)).

Also yes, I only use mediator's for big trades and then only if i dont know the person. The last time I used a mediator it took 20 minutes, so I disagree with some of the stuff here re: "fast". its supposed to be fast, it probably is alot of the time, but not the one time I had a trade.

Join Date is a metric, older accounts (which are not locked, ghosted, tagged or w/e haha) have their own metric value in the eyes of the community. I must admit your logic is very sound. I had a friend recently join this site and i did most of his trades for him. because people refused to use a mediator for small trades and he was flat nervous of the site.

For the record I voted Yes, much good that will do. I also agree with your logic throughout this thread.

There is no NEED for some rating system re: Trades, but it would be helpful to new users. In the round I would suggest when trading, look at the buyer/seller, see his active topic's and then make the following decisions:
1. will i try to trade with this user
2. will i use a mediator or not

To repeat the site motto of 2021, when in doubt, use a mediator. alot of people read these topic's so I have to be clear for new users.

Hey Ferdia!

I really appreciate the feedback. It was very thorough, constructive, and supportive as well <3

I appreciate the fact that you have a perspective of a new member through your friend's experience. I am not sure what has to be done, what new metric should be implemented or changed - but something has to be done.
I am very enthusiastic about the site and I want to be involved in the community, but every day I become less incentivized and motivated to do so. I am almost 30 and I am not sure how much longer I will be just as active on the forum, generating 40+ messages a day, 30+ trades, 20+ posts in the "general help" section.
I want to do more, but, currently, I am limited to do so. I did apply to be a helper in the S'A section, and I do have the time to help. However, I have never received a response back from my application. I am not going anywhere, and I am clearly not going to scam ppl - that can be understood simply by looking at the value of the star next to my name.
However, I am surely not going to be as active if I will continue to receive general rejection or stigma against new members. It is a shame in my opinion. The website did so well when D2R was released; it brought so much new interest. However, you can see it is already slowing down again. D4 was announced to be delayed as well.

So for the benefit of the whole lol I do want a new metric system to be added and less emphasis to be paid to the join trade - not a particularly useful factor at all in my opinion.

Thanks for looking over it! If you haven’t already, participate in the poll. I would really like to see if there are more people who might agree with this idea. Or disagree with it :)
