Mediators ensure that trades in which multiple processing phases exist will be completed safely, timely, and to the standard set by the terms agreed to for all parties involved in a transaction.

Requesting a Mediator is the safest and most efficient method of exchange on the forum.

you defiantly put a lot of thought into this, and as i remember from trading back in D2 days it would be a great feature. The one thing i would say, is i believe the timer needs to be shorter then 30min. My reasoning for this, is sometimes people (like me) can only get one in sperts, to do the trade, and back out. and then back to family life.

I would like to add to this by saying maybe have options to select a time. this way "services" could also utilize this feature. or a button to "extend" if they timer is about to expire and they need more time.



i dont believe hes trying to eliminate mods, his goal is to take some stress off of the mods. we all agree that requesting a mediator is the safest way.but sometimes you want the "safety" with out having to wait 10-30min.

First off I want to thank you for taking the time and effort to put together this suggestion. You do have a great idea here but there are some issues and not only in theory.

Quite a few years ago we had an auction house style trading tool build into d2jsp, this allowed you to list items and also included an auto mediator feature. The auto mediator feature worked exactly as you describe, it held fg, collected info and waited for both traders to confirm that the trade was complete. The issue we encountered was the person receiving the item would almost always either forget or completely ignore the "Trade Complete" button and log off for hours, sometimes months before returning. This would force us to intervene and investigate as to what happened. This process was extremely difficult because we had not established any communication avenues with either party prior to trade. After a lengthy process of sorting everything out we'd make a ruling that the item was given and we could FORCEFULLY complete this trade having the fg be sent. This process took way to much time and this happened far too often for it to be "fast and efficient" as you describe. In some cases the user would return after a few days and then complain "Why was the fg sent, I never got the items?!!!!". Eventually the feature was completely removed and basic meditations were the only option again.

Again thanks for taking the time to write this up, but we will not be implementing your suggestion. It's been tried, tested and failed. We aren't interested in going down this path again or at least not at this time.
