If you actively use that topic, there is no real need to keep it forever and add more coding to the site, as people would abuse this for all topics, and then eventually the site load would become too great.
This way it allows you to manage what links you subscribe to properly as you will let the older ones you do not use drop off.
Sad that you think so even though I do see what you are coming from. Regardless thanks for your imput.
