No, it's already sorted alphabetically, a gigantic span of letter links at the top is unnecessary.

Maybe it can be a rolling down thing where you just select the letter.

Sifting through 15+ pages of contacts is annoying as hell. Especially when you know someone who starts with a letter far down the alphabet you're just restrained in going there in an easy way.
