That's because these popular subjects don't have a home. General chat is not suitable for these topics not to mention car audio is a sub forum...that can definitely be placed in general chat.

This gives people a place to discuss these popular subjects without fear of mass spam and +1s.

Yes, it would make the site get more people too...not to mention how convenient it would be to be able to get info on places from 1 site, and still do other stuff too. you got my +1 YES
