No, I don't believe this would be beneficial. Prices are based upon supply and demand and are constantly changing. Also "pricechecks" are opinions, often times they are pretty far off. They should only be used to get an idea of value and not as a "be all, end all". The prices shouldn't be determined upon someones(pricechecker) opinion, but rather based on an agreement between the seller and buyer. If you are willing to sell at this price and I'm willing to buy at that price, that's what the price is. It might be double what anyone else would buy it at, but that is still it's price.

I also believe that this addition would serve no purpose. Prices are always changing whether that is done by the basic concepts of supply and demand or whether it is caused by significant individuals who choose
to drive the price upwards or downwards. To add to that uncertainty, price checks often vary from person to person, and even certain reputable price checkers have biases towards what they consider "more valuable."
Taking a case in point, certain pcers may choose to favor melee items while others may choose to favor particular caster items. These biases are formed not because they want to do so but unconsciously from years of playing.
A good phrase for it would be inherent characteristics.

all in all, my counter-argument is that this would not help because those past price checks cannot even be used as a basis for reference. In the end, when time passes, you'll need to post in price check forums regardless
because those past searches have either already been obsolete or are simly inaccurate.

With a search engine, if you search for an item that may have been recently pc'd - I dont think chaging prices would be a large variable.
You know?
Cuz its not like we're trolling archives with the search button.

And of course - if any doubts you just post a price check yourself.
Its just to reduce spam\knowledge :O

Hope that clears it up a little!

Thanks for your comment\vote!

^ What i pmd to Gobesei - cleared up for him ofc.

Lemme try to clear it up even more, because I might not be understanding what you saying :O

What would happen is you would search using the search engine to find a price check similar to your item.
If you dont find one, or dont find one you think is right - You make a price check.
These searches wont become obsoluete, ever! Price check threads will STILL be made during this time.
The search function would only be to find what was going on with items around yours at the time.

Tl;dr version (to lazy, didnt read version) - Price check posts will still be made, so price checks wont become obsolete- the search is only as a reference to help guide you - and if you arent happy, make a price check post.

;)
Hope that clears things up a little!
