I can assure you that no tears have been shed. My argument remains firmly objective. If you have any rational rebuttals feel free to share.

Concerning the other post, it appears to have been closed due to the user that received the mod response, "This post is a violation of the site rules and appropriate action was taken." I won't call that user out, as my goal is for this discussion to remain objective and centered around whether or not a rule addition would be an overall benefit to d2jsp.

Nope, they don’t close threads because someone got a warn🤦‍♂️

It was closed as you were given your answer multiple times, and then finally a mod gave you the same answer everyone else did.

It can be considered BM, but it’s not an illegal trade for a myriad of reasons.

Jsp isn’t going to force someone to trade people items.

the entire forum would be cleaned up a bit. Wouldn't it uplift the community to a more mature state?

not enough posts to consider cleanup as an issue, I am concerned that you are trying to be disingenuous to support your point, I looked up last 100 pages on the most popular trading forum, 11 posts out of 2500, what made you think we have an auction posts problem that warrant cleaning?

I voted no.

I do not feel there is an issue large enough warranting this type of rule change. I understand the frustration in the situation you personally dealt with, but I do feel the seller should in the end have the final say if their product is sold or not. Thank you for the suggestion though.

Two people gave an answer, then a mod, which confirmed to me that as presently written in the rules no violation had occurred. That doesn't mean the offense that occurred wasn't wrong, or that it could be a future violation via rule addendum. And that mod response brought us here to this poll/discussion, which is a good thing.

Enforcement is a legitimate concern, but easy for users and mods to be accustomed to a common-sense rule: "auction is an auction" and, "users should start auctions responsibly, they are liable for their timed-auctions". I would suggest a warning system, then a timed restriction for creating new auctions for further offenses.

what made you think we have an auction posts problem that warrant cleaning?

It's been happening for years, not infrequently. I'm not saying there is a large percentage of posts that include this problem. But if it's ever happened to you'd have the same feeling such as, "Why am I even bidding? Is it an auction or not?" It's a turnoff and a disappointment for users that has a simple solution.

Thanks for your vote and sharing! I agree that the seller should have final say in "make-me-an-offer" auctions but not in timed-auction because the seller makes the choice as to his minimum acceptable bid. He should set the minimum only if he is comfortable with selling it for that amount, otherwise, he should not do timed-auctions.

Not going to change. Any trade can be stopped at any point in time before any items are transferred. Even if fg is sent first, it can/will be sent back.

People aim to lowball bids in such an insane way on this site. there is no way to keep this viable.

This is not something that will be implemented.
