It is the most popular board game on the planet, 600,000,000 - 700,000,000 people know how to play. And since the pandemic, The numbers have exploded even higher. There is a huge community of streamers YouTubers some with over a million subs... ETC. Online at any time there's approximately 100,000 timed games going between the top websites, and at least that and correspondence games. Rather than having to post in the general chat or DF. I think it's time with the increase in popularity and size of the community we have a place to call our own. There are some forums for games that aren't even a hundreth of the size of chess. That don't get posted in even on a weekly basis. What do we have to do to get the ball rolling on this? A simple Google search will show the numbers. A subform would be great for countless reasons.
- Setting Up Clubs
- Showcasing Games
- Setting Up Tournaments
- Setting Up Matches
- Asking Questions, Example Tactics/Theory
- Sharing Chess News, Example New Players/New Tourneys
- Offering FG for Lessons
Setting up clubs, showcasing games, setting up tournaments, setting up matches, asking questions about theory and tactics ETC, talking about current events in the community such as upcoming tournaments, upcoming players ETC. Being able to link up with lessons possibly even using form gold to pay for these. Etc. I think it's something that would be absolutely great knowing the popularity has skyrocketed with covid. I always thought that we should have one. But with the increase in the numbers lately. Please oh please oh please can we do this. We're not talking about checkers or Monopoly here,
