Seeing a lot of people getting scammed and a lot of new players and accounts.

Now that you actually have to purchase the game and link it to your bnet account, should there be a way that to sell and buy, you NEED to link your battle tag account to your d2jsp account?

It would suck at first setting up, but once done, it would alleviate A LOT of the problems, and there would be a banned bnet ID section.

Would be funny to see some of these losers get perma locked out of d2jsp unless they buy a brand new bnet account with a new copy of d2r.

Hi there Scia!

Thank you for your suggestion, however the only real solution to reducing scammers is to use a mediator.

If user's are too lazy to even request a mediator, why would they go through all the overhead needed to confirm a BNET tag.

Also, scammers will go above and beyond and purchase multiple BNET/games to scam if they are determined.

I do like the idea, however I think the root cause this is solving is better solved by simply requesting a mediator.

Also, I recommend attaching a pole to a suggestion so we can vote on it :)

Im not going to lie, I used the mediator process about a week ago, and the seller gets the short end of the stick. It was an annoying process. The buyer sent the FG to the med, and I traded the item to the buyer, but then the buyer did not confirm and I had to take a bunch of screenshots and wait until the next day to get my FG. It wasnt a great process.

That's not how it's supposed to work at all. They're supposed to give items to med, you FG to med, med gives items to you, you confirm you reveived all and he releases the FG to the seller all in same game...

100% agree. The mediator did NOT do this, he just confirmed it was ok for me to pass the item to buyer, and it put me in the awkward position. Next time any mediator is required, I will be asking them to take the item directly, to avoid any bs.

That actually IS how the new mediation system works - and the forum gold is sent directly into the forum bank system (never goes to the mediator account) and then is "released" to the item seller once both parties confirm the trade is complete.

To reply to the OP here - not every d2jsp account is someone who plays D2R - so enforcing a battle.tag to be added to their account would be impossible if they don't have one.

There is also no way of verifying if the battle.tags that would be "linked" to the d2jsp accounts would be legitimate or not.

Fair enough.... thats true. I guess Ill just keep seeing people get scammed who are not careful :(

I am not a big fan of the new mediation process lol.

It puts all the onus on the seller, imo. The whole point of using a med is so I dont need to worry about taking screenshots etc.

Another thing is that anybody can change their BattleTag anytime.

Cost money though which people wont want to do that often IMO :P I guess its a flunk of an idea, just brainstorming ways to help out the scamming situation as I read it a lot.

I stand corrected. Was not aware of this. So what happens if someone never confirms?
