With the increased amount of traffic to d2jsp due D2R being released.
We are seeing a massive amount of returning user, new user and unfortunately multi user.

Nowadays most services requires you to Verify your Mobile phone number upon creating an account.
If you scam or are banned and you try and make a new account with the same phone number, it simply won't let you make a new account.

I know no system is perfect and people will always find a way to by-pass the security feature but in my opinion more security is always better and with the increased amount of scam I think such a system would benefit the whole community.


I haven't made a mockup but i was thinking in the same way Gmail/discord currently does it.

I actually like this idea! Would definitely make recovery easier and could be used to implement 2 factor authentication when logging in or changing gold pw or things like that. Yes from me! Though maybe leave it as an option instead of forced?

Yes, although not all of the world has access to cell phones.

Maybe providing ID upon signing up could be an option as well.

You’d need a way to combat free WiFi apps that allow both texting and calling, etcetera. Otherwise you could generate 10 numbers for 10 accounts. But I like this idea also.

I would like to add that with this, we could set push notifications in the form of a text message. Of course this would be a setting we have to chose ourselves and text message/data rates would apply.

As long as it's optional and only used for the purpose of easier account recovery and things like that. Not everybody has a cell phone so it shouldn't be a hard requirement
