It was always hard to trade on these races using d2jsp because we had to use parental subsections and tags to separate from the league crowd. It sounds alright on paper but in reality some people are lazy, some people are forgetful and some are not familiar with the tag system at all, they just want to click "create topic" and get on with it.
It creates an unnecessary clusterfuck when users are swimming in topics trying to find out if items they need are being sold on race or league and it discourages them from using the site altogether.

Previously these races were a two-weeks-at-best long side events but this is a full grown one, a month long race with no real alternative because the league itself is as good as dead.
Can we have a "Path of Exile Event Trading" section now, it would help tremendously to stay sane?

I understand the problem you're trying to solve, but the solution you provided will create more confusion and less functionality.

The proper solution would be a temporary sub-forum for that league, if it's warranted

yeah we need new race/event section because it's so annoying to check all iso topics thinking: "oh maybe he want to buy some race currency and forgot to add [1 week], [2 week], [turmoil] etc..."

just rename the existing and defunct poe beta sub and open it during race events and close it when they are over.
should be very simple
