Are there any downsides to permanent tracking? The only thing I could think of is it makes them store a little data perhaps, but we have a notepad that is permanent right? An account AFK for 10 years would probably still have the notepad data info stored, so space shouldn't be the issue.

Why CAN'T we just permanently track threads?

Some threads I've tracked for years I have to refresh the track it's annoying haha.

i have noticed that when a trade thread is old and becomes untracked or you being the person with the only account that has tracked it do not log in for a while, the thread automatically gets moved to "old ladder" and you no longer track it
not sure if it has to do with not logging in besides not posting, but those are the only times it has happened to me

i see some expiring (or being moved to an archive) in a week of no one having posted on them, some are staying longer, maybe when tracked again they remain until expiration
still not fair though
