Thats what it says when you try to change your username and its already taken. Say you want to change your name to... Orphan.

But you find out Orphan is already taken.

Okay. Its a pretty sophisticated name. Probably taken by a mod or someone pretty high up.

Say you think, "Okay, thats a little unfair, but I'm creative. I've got plenty of ideas."

So you decide... TheFish! Thats simple, yet unique, and slightly comical. Great!

So you type it into the name change box aaand...

Turns out that TheFish died about 10 years ago.

So, what I'm suggesting is that the rules for changing your name should be altered. Its obvious what these people did. They made another account to be comical. To show off a funny name in a goofy situation to get a few "Yuks" out of the people in the section.

I say that in a situation where someone should go as long as five years without logging on, that their username should be changed to a default username. Something like... ABXD956298

Something they could type in. And they should also be given one free name change to go along with the username to provide themselves with a desired username, as opposed to being stuck with the newly given default.

I hardly believe that someone would wait five years without logging on ONCE to get a free name change.

And I know that everyone here is thinking that they've probably seen this post a million times and its always been the same thing... So why not just go along so you dont have to see it anymore?

I support this idea but it will never happen.

There are so many usernames to choose from, not to mention their combinations.

I also regularly see "old members" starting to use their accounts, maybe because their favourite game is released or whatever the reason.

As much as I'd love for this to happen, it never will.
I'd even be willing to pay twice the original amount just to get a name that I've wanted but it's already taken.

Never will happend. You cant be sure if someone who logged last time 2002 and has 0posts, wants to be now part of the site he logs in and his MostAwesomeUsername has been changed to abc1234.
Now that would be very unfair.

Run an IP check? Im sure he has some way of doing that.

Two users on the same IP. One that logged in in 2002 with 0 posts and 0 fg
And one that logged in yesterday with 23,424 posts and 7,238 fg.

Thats not reason.
