Here's an idea that came to mind while looking over my profile...

When I click on the "0%" next to my warn, it sends me to the User Warning Center. Although I have never been warned before, I'm assuming that there are details listed in the "Notes" section for each warn you receive informing you why you were warned. My suggestion is to make this information public. This could obviously be implemented with a more public friendly layout that hides any information that could be private.

For example, say user xxyz04 was locked and received a scammer tag back in 2007, yet was able to get it removed in 2013 after paying back his scam/making amends/insert random act of penance. It would be nice if a user could click on the warn % in xxyz04's profile and see if said user has ever received any warns/had fg locked/was labelled a scammer. I understand that this could be information that a lot of people might want to remain private, but if you aren't doing shady thing then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. If you're just a troll that posts in the S/A section, I will be able to see that you have 10% warn from just being a troll.

Here's what it would look like:

This would allow any user, new or old, to be able to protect themselves. Any thoughts to this?

Do you have more specific reasons? I can already discern your warn level from your profile, so I don't see how this is any different from a newspaper printing "John Smith Robbed TCF Bank Yesterday." Shouldn't specific crimes be public knowledge should they occur (such as a previous scammer)?

Obviously I understand people can change tunes and cease from scamming, but it should still be in some kind of VERIFIED public record. Usually it's just plastered all over peoples' profiles. Since I have the power to post "njaguar scammed me 12kfg" all over my profile, I'd think it would be nice to have a database of scammers/previous scammers that have been ACTUALLY tagged by the mod team.

This is a website. Robbing a bank is a crime. Do you see people who get traffic tickets plastered all over the news or have wanted posters put up on each street corner? This is the equivalent.

We never know who is going to scam until it happens. If they scam, they will be locked. You don't need a record. The locked tag is your heads up. Anything else is pure speculation.

Is it possible for users to get the scammer tag removed over time?

that is what this forum is for

http://forums.d2jsp.org/forum.php?f=293

if they go through the process of repayment then there is a chance they can get unlocked.
Its entirely down to the user.

Sure is. People can change. It's not an overnight process.

Anyone can put up a scammer accusation against anyone. You might put one up because you didn't like someone. How fair is that? So now you will never trade with them because someone lied about an SA? I don't recommend doing this because action can and may be taken against your account for falsely accusing users.

Innocent until proven guilty. Although, now a days, it doesn't seem to be the case. If they have a locked tag, that's your hint to not trade with them. The best advice I can give you is to use a mediator.
