As I'm sure people are aware, jsp has rules. Some are ones you might expect, like no posting pornography. Some are ones that you might no realize, like creating a thread with another user's name in the topic title, or using a picture of them.
There are many very small rule violations that result in a thread being closed, however, when a thread is closed the reason given is usually pretty vague. The most common one is "thread closed for excessive off-topic posts." Even threads without any posts can be closed with this given as a reason if it violates a rule.
I think there should either be more options given to the mods to say why a thread was closed, or a space for them to write a message to the thread creator that explains why it was closed, where they could write simple things like "wrong subforum, post here:" or "you were flaming this user:." This would help relieve a lot of confusion and would stop all of the "why was my thread closed" threads.
Also, if people didn't know what rules they were breaking, this could let them know so they won't do it again. At least they won't do it again accidentally.
/e Of course, only the thread creator would be able to see why, just like they can currently.
