don't know if something like this has been suggested before but i think it would be a helpful addition.

i have encountered people in the past who underwent a name changes and i didn't notice who they were until after they told me, so something like this might come in handy for people.
it could also act as a preventative measure against repeater scammer's that might re-target you after a name change and a profile overhaul, since not all scammers are reported or dealt with due to lack of proof.

Think something like how Steam shows you the previous names of people, but in this case not being able to spam Name change because it costs FG and doing so would be costly.

yes, I totally think this should be implemented

Even if those people are on your friends list you could become clueless to who they are after a name change if you don't speak to them that often, even more so if they change the look of their profile.
Since the only notification you would get about the name change would be from the person themself contacting you saying they changed their name.

Having a simple drop down box or something with like the last 3-5 name changes would provide you the ability to see for yourself instead of having to Pm said person every time asking them "Who are you?"

I have had a issue with people having their user name changed.
Not with scamming but with knowing who they was and how I knew them threw the forums.
It is like you are known with the name and changing it will bring a new identity to the person ditching their history.

User changed account name from yyy to zzz on xx/xx/xxxx.

I would like to see the dropdown + 3-5 names as you stated.. this helps in a few ways but my main help would be scammer avoidance (in certain subforums, people namechange to get off welcher lists / blacklists and scam more people, so it would help there too.)

I voted no. In my opinion a name change can be used to get away from people that you no longer want contact with, or have a fresh start, ect.
If you're friends with someone they can tell you they changed their name.
I also don't think that the scam thing is relevant, as I'm sure the mod team keeps track of who changes to what.

just block those people imo

if you've done something wrong enough to want to be sneaky about your name change, you will most likely be caught eventually anyway

and it's only a recent change list, say 30 day sor something, if you are really, really bothered about people knowing who you are then just don't post during those 30 days after you get a namechange
