So I am looking at an equation.. it is simplified as follows:
integral (q/r^2 * r-hat * r-hat * dr) ---------> integral (q/r^2 * dr)
essentially cancelling out the r-hats. I am wondering why this happens.

r-hat is a unit vector. A unit vector multiplied by itself is equal to one. This is why they "cancel" out.
