I need to write a descriptive narrative (900-1,200 words) on my experience learning about reading or writing. I have no idea what to write about! You can discuss the differences in academic or professional writing versus everyday speaking and discussion. In writing you reduce slang terms and are required to use specific descriptions instead of just "it" or "they". Its a pretty clear difference and it might fit for you.
