|v + Z|^2 - |v - z|^2

where vector v = <5,4> and vector z = <-2,0>

Any help much appreciated...

Don't know what you need. Just the result?

v+z = (3, 4) and v-z = (7, 4)
And so
|v+z|^2 = 3^2 + 4^2 = 9 + 16 = 25
|v-z|^2 = 7^2 + 4^2 = 49 + 16 = 65
Resulting in 25 - 65 = 40.

Nvm hadn't seen this type of notation previously.
